The Kingston Trust Fund began in 1997 as the primary health provider of Medical benefits for members of the Kingston Teachers' Federation. In 2007, Dental benefits and Long Term Care insurance were added and life insurance was added in 2009.

Since its inception, when compared to the Blue Cross plan it replaced and the extra benefits it provides, the Trust has saved the Kingston Schools over $250 million in benefit premium costs.

The Trust insures over 2000 policy holders covering 4000 lives.
